Both commanders can remove their own structures. Marines get resources back; aliens only get the supply back.
Recycle (marines)#
- Select a structure and press Recycle. It takes 12 s, then the structure fades out.
- Refund: up to 75% of the structure's cost, scaled by its health (a structure at half health returns half that), rounded.
- Upgraded structures count their upgrade: an Advanced Armory returns part of the armory and the upgrade, an ARC Robotics Factory the factory and its upgrade.
- Can be recycled: Command Station, Infantry Portal, Armory, Arms Lab, Prototype Lab, Observatory, Phase Gate, Robotics Factory, Extractor, Sentry, Sentry Battery.
- Cancel it before it finishes and nothing is lost.
Consume (aliens)#
- Select a structure and press Consume. It takes 12 s.
- No refund. Consuming only frees the structure's supply.
- Can be consumed: Harvester, Crag, Shade, Shift, Whip, Shell, Spur, Veil, and drifters.
- Use it to make room for structures you need more, for example trading a Whip for a Crag next to a hive.
Example refunds#
| Structure | Cost | Full health refund |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 8 | |
| 35 | 26 | |
| 10 | 8 | |
| 15 | 11 | |
| 10 | 8 | |
| 15 | 11 |
When to use it#
- Supply is full and you need ARCs or another observatory: recycle sentries, an extra armory or a robotics factory you no longer use. See Supply in practice.
- A structure is about to die anyway (an extractor in a lost room): recycle it while it still has health, since the refund drops with health.
