Why another NS2 wiki?#
The big community wiki is out of date in places and is starting to describe the Community Balance Mod (CBM), which these servers do not run. They play vanilla NS2 (build 344) plus the small SBM balance mod, and this wiki documents exactly that.
Where the numbers come from#
Every number in a page (costs, damage, health, research times, hits to kill...) is read from the game's Lua code when the site is built:
- A frozen copy of the vanilla build 344 Lua (from before CBM was merged).
- The current SBM mod source applied on top, the same way the game loads it.
Nothing is typed in by hand, so the wiki can't drift from the server. Hover any number to see the constant and file it comes from. Values the SBM mod changes are simply shown as they are on the server; the full list of what SBM changes is on SBM changes.
The hits-to-kill tables, kill combos, calculators and charts are calculated with the game's own damage formula. Map overviews, room names, tech points and resource nodes are read from the map files. Icons and pictures are the game's own art.
This wiki currently has 124 pages, and SBM changes 17 values.
Mistakes and suggestions#
Found something wrong or missing? Tell the admins on the Discord (!discord in game). Text is written by hand and can be wrong even when the numbers are right.
